Sustainability Statement

We measure and report our energy and carbon data across the whole of our operations, giving comprehensive data to authenticate the environmental impact of the Company. Our SECR statement is made on a wholly voluntary basis which underlines our "green" ambitions and responsible business practices. It includes all emission sources required under the 2019 regulations for the financial year ended 31st December 2024.
Scope 1 emissions arise predominantly from the diesel used in company vehicles, plant, and equipment. Other Scope 1 emissions include the gas used to heat the premises, accounting for 1% of such emissions. Scope 2 emissions arise from the purchase of electricity from the grid.
The carbon intensity ratio we have chosen is the best reflection of our total activity across all our operations and is based on the total turnover of the company. Our carbon intensity ratio for the year ended 31st December 2024 is 63.5 tCO2e per £Million of turnover. While this represents an increase from 2023, it is attributed to operational expansion, and we remain committed to long term reductions. We have installed LED lighting, switched to green tariff energy contracts, and conducted a solar PV feasibility study. Additionally, we are actively exploring alternative fuels, which should drive absolute reductions in emissions in the future. We have also purchased our first fully electric van as part of our commitment to reducing Scope 1 emissions.
We have developed a Net Zero strategy with interim targets to monitor our performance across all departments. We are continuing to engage with our suppliers to measure the indirect carbon in our entire value chain (Scope 3) so that we can develop effective plans to report and then reduce our total carbon footprint in future periods.
To calculate the carbon emissions, we have used the emission factors from the UK Government’s
GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting 2024. One of the requirements of the SECR regulations is to report our total UK energy use in kilowatt hours (kWh); for this, we have used the 2024 conversion factors referred to above. The Scope 1 and 2 emissions reported are for all operational facilities under our control and for which we have direct management responsibility and have been calculated on a "location" basis.
Our total UK energy usage for the year was 1,507,732 kWh, reflecting increased activity levels. Despite this, we remain committed to energy efficiency measures and carbon reduction strategies to drive down our emissions in the coming years.
